Cork Collars for Dogs & Gear for Their Humans

TEMPORARY AND LIMITED (hopefully) CLOSURE

12/25/2024

Dear Reader,

Firstly, I want to take a moment to thank everyone for believing in D2K9 for the past three years. Whether you sat on the sidelines and celebrated each new collection, purchased a limited edition or multiple customs, joined any number of my social media endeavors, participated in a giveaway (and won or lost!), oooh’d or ahhh’d over something pretty I made, it all mattered and I am so grateful. Writing this and taking this action breaks my heart. This little business was my dream, a pretty major flex for veganism, a way for high-quality, high-effort artistry to shine, and for a long time my self-esteem was tangled up in it. The thought of letting it go is absolutely earth-shattering, so thank you so much for being here and allowing me to dress your dogs.

The political climate has made the future of D2K9 incredibly shaky so there are some pretty substantial changes coming in light of that influence, namely, as some of you may or may not be aware: worldwide, the only source for cork is the cork forests on the Iberian Peninsula, in Spain and Portugal. This means that my supplies (even if purchased through US shippers) would be subject to the proposed Trump importation tariffs. I can do a lot, but I cannot move forests. The thought of extending the impact of these tariffs to the customer is one I'm approaching with immense caution, ethically and emotionally. As such, all products can now only be accessed via Patreon Exclusives. Patreon people currently pay a recurring $12/mo fee to have access to things not available to the public, are used to seeing flat digital designs, and have never complained about pricing - in fact they’ve always been hyper-supportive of my art regardless of the cost. Changes specific to them including wait time impact and collection plans were laid out in a post on Christmas day.

This is what the country voted for and my small business is as much at risk as I am personally as a POC, naturalized citizen, and woman.

If you are interested in joining Patreon, there are links and buttons below. Otherwise, in the event of D2K9 going public again, the newsletter is your best bet for updates on that - the sign-up for which is also below - as I do not have a planned date for reopening.

Heavy-hearted but grateful for the years I kept this going,

Lia
